This Privacy Policy explains how Monierate Digital LTD (operating as Bitmonie, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use the Bitmonie platform to take collateral-backed Naira loans against your Bitcoin.
By creating an account or using our services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Information we collect
We collect three categories of information:
Information you provide
- Identity information: full name, date of birth, BVN, NIN, and a government-issued ID.
- Contact information: phone number, email address, and residential address.
- Financial information: bank account details for loan disbursement and repayment.
- Communications you send to loans@bitmonie.co or our support channels.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: IP address, device type, browser, and operating system.
- Usage information: pages visited, features used, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Terms of Use for details).
Information from third parties
- KYC and identity verification providers.
- Credit bureaus and fraud-prevention services.
- Bitcoin custody partners and on-chain analytics providers.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Verify your identity and meet our Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations under Nigerian law.
- Originate, service, and collect on loans, including liquidating Bitcoin collateral when required.
- Calculate interest accruals and outstanding loan balances.
- Communicate with you about your account, loans, margin calls, and platform updates.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access.
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
Sharing and disclosure
We share your information with:
- Service providers — KYC vendors, custody partners, payment processors, and cloud infrastructure providers, each bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms.
- Regulators and law enforcement — when legally required, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, the EFCC, and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
- Successors in interest — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and for a minimum of seven years after account closure to satisfy regulatory record-keeping requirements under Nigerian financial-services law.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (2023), you have the right to:

- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of information we are not legally required to retain.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.

Security
